RAFAEL MOYA

In September of last year, Spanish architect Rafael Moya visited Villa Corinthians for the first time. A member of the community had contacted him, through a mutual friend, to do the blueprints of his house. He wanted to build it in a sustainable way and knew that Moya was a specialist in the subject. Rafael saw an opportunity to put into practice some of the ideas on architecture and sustainable urbanism that he has been using for two decades. He met with community leaders and proposed to redesign the entire housing association, both houses and public spaces with the goal of transforming Villa Corintios into a small city that is built with minimal impact on the environment and that is self-sufficient of its main resources. The goal being to become a model for a sustainable neighborhood. (Excerpt from the article "The dream of the sustainable neighborhood" published in The Republic)
